Tallaght Youth Band

On Sunday 11th September in the National Basketball Arena Tallaght Youth Band along with The Dublin Firebrigade Pipe Band, The Garda Band and Soprano Singer Regina Nathan took part in a very emotional concert to mark the 10th Anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy. The concert - featuring a talk by former New York fire chief Dan Daly, who lost 50 men at Ground Zero, was a huge success. The local people of Tallaght came out in great numbers to support this event. We had been invited to New York this year by Mayor Bloomberg to represent all the Irish victims who lost their lives on that day when funding didnt come through we realised early in 2011 that this trip would be too much of a financial burden on our members but we still wanted to mark the occasion in our own way. President McAleese sent us a letter which was read out on the night by South Dublin County Council Mayor Caitriona Jones. This added further to the night being so special. It was one that our members will never forget being a part of and we will Never Forget....
