All Ireland Champions 2012

The Dubs are All Ireland Champions 2012
Tallaght Youth Band Marching Vikings took 1st place yet again in the Irish Marching Bands Association Championships in Clonmel on September 8th, making it a clean sweep for the band. The senior section of TYB, known as the Marching Vikings, won all 4 field show competitions of the 2012 season defeating opposition from around Ireland.
Starting on home turf TYB won in Tallaght Stadium at Beat 24. Shortly after they travelled to Ballygar in Galway and once again took first place which was the case in Arklow also. Many hours of practice went in this season which brought the band to finals in Clonmel where all that work paid off.
Under an exquisitely blue sky our Vikings marched out on to the field to do battle with pride and hope in their hearts. Each member performed their individual part to their best and together they put on a show which was breathtaking to watch. Their supporters who travelled all that way to see them were on their feet by the end of the show, the same was true when the results were announced shortly later.
We had a very happy band travelling home to Dublin on Saturday evening with their trophies and the title of IMBA All Ireland Champions 2012. With this title under their belt TYB will march on to Drum Corp Europe (DCE) in Holland on September 28th to represent Ireland. We would like to thank all our supporters for their encouragement and assistance not only this season but over the band’s 35 years.

Tralee 2012

“We always receive a warm welcome from the crowds that line the route of the parades every year.” Linda said. “This year was no different and it is great to hear the shouts of “up the Dubs” from the Kerry people. Every year our experience in Tralee gets better and better and for our members on their first trip to Tralee it always has the wow factor and they, like our other members, look forward to their next Tralee”.
She added: “Over the years we’ve made many friends and hope to keep doing so for many more years to come. During our time in Tralee this year we marched in two parades, we entertained the crowds from our base in Denny Street and we also played in wonderful sunshine in the park with young and old dancing along to the music.”
