Tallaght Youth Band are kept very busy throughout the year.
We take part in parades, competitions, festivals, concerts, trips etc.
Throughout the year we take part in many festivals, parades and competitions. Our busiest time of the year would be the summer months when we take part in the Irish Marching Band Association competitions all over the country. Both the Cadets and the Vikings perform a field show and endure hours of rehersal to ensure that their shows are ready for the first competition adding more and more to it for Finals, which are held in September. We also take part in the Rose of Tralee Festival in August. This is a stay over weekend for the band and we take part in two parades. This by far is the most favoured gig by members and committee. Although there are no luxuries for us as we sleep on a hall floor for the weekend, everyone is talking about the trip from the time we leave until the time we go back again. The build up to St Patrick's Day is also a busy time for us and we would generally take part in two Parades on the day. This is a great opportunity for our members to show off their talent and to make Tallaght proud. Over the years we have also taken part in Parades abroad, we have travelled to New York, London and Boston, where we received a great reception. We have also taken part in Competitions abroad including Belgium, Switzerland and Germany to name but a few. In the past the band have also performed at the Royal Albert Hall and at the Royal Tournment in Earls Court, London. Every year we host our Annual Christmas Concert to showcase our various talents for parents, family and friends and we love to see past members come along to enjoy the night. Throughout the year we also do alot of fundraising, this ranges from bag pack, pub collections, bucket collections and we have also held successful Stars in their Eyes Competitions, this was a fun night of singing, music and laughter. Another very successful fundraising event was when we had our 30th Reunion. It was great to see so many past members mixed in with our new members. We were even treated to our past majorettes perform an old routine on the dance floor!!! Heres looking forward to the 40th!!!
